Got questions about my handmade leather goods, how I work, or what to expect when you order? Here are the answers to the things people ask me most.
Who makes CraftyDrifters Cornwall products?
That would be me, Mark. I'm a one-person operation working from my workshop here in Cornwall. Every single item is hand-cut, bevelled, and stitched by me personally. There are no factory lines, no employees, and no outsourcing. When you buy from CraftyDrifters, you're buying directly from the person who made your piece.
What type of leather do you use?
I use 100% full-grain leather, which is the highest grade available. It retains the entire surface of the hide, including natural markings and texture, because it hasn't been sanded or artificially finished. I source vegetable-tanned hides, a traditional tanning process that preserves the leather's fibre structure and allows it to develop a rich, unique patina over years of use.
How long will a CraftyDrifters wallet actually last?
A full-grain leather wallet with proper care can last 10 to 20 years of daily use. Compare that to a mass-produced "genuine leather" wallet, which typically wears out in 1 to 3 years. A £45 wallet lasting 15 years works out to about £3 per year, which is far better value than replacing a cheaper wallet every couple of years.
What products do you sell?
My range includes bi-fold wallets, card holders, passport cases, glasses cases, darts cases, tobacco pouches, and coin purses. I also have a dedicated "Gifts Under £25" collection for anyone looking for a quality handmade gift without breaking the bank.
Can I get my order personalised?
Absolutely. I offer monogram stamping, custom colour choices, and contrast stitching options. Because I hand-dye the leather myself, the colour penetrates deep into the material rather than sitting on the surface, so your personalisation ages beautifully alongside the leather. If you have something specific in mind that isn't listed, just get in touch and I'll do my best to make it happen.
How long do custom or bespoke orders take?
Custom orders typically take 1 to 2 weeks, though the exact turnaround depends on my current workload. I'll always give you an honest estimate when you place your order. Because every bespoke piece is made from scratch to your specifications, I ask for a little patience, and I promise it's worth the wait.
What does your delivery and shipping look like?
I offer free UK tracked delivery on all orders. In-stock items are dispatched the same day if ordered before my cut-off time. You'll receive tracking details so you can follow your parcel from my workshop to your door.
What is your returns policy?
Standard items can be returned within 30 days, hassle-free. Custom and personalised orders are a different story, though. Because bespoke pieces are made specifically for you, they can't be restocked or resold, so they aren't eligible for returns. If you have any concerns about a custom order before placing it, just drop me a message and we'll sort out the details together.
Do your products come with a guarantee?
Every CraftyDrifters full grain leather piece comes with a lifetime guarantee. This covers structural defects, hardware failures, and stitching issues. I stand behind my work completely. If something goes wrong because of how it was made, I'll put it right.
Why do your products look slightly different from the photos?
Because I work in small batches with natural, full-grain leather, no two pieces are ever identical. The grain patterns, natural markings, and hand-stitching will vary from item to item. I see this as a feature, not a flaw. Each piece has its own character, and that's part of what makes handmade leather goods special. Over time, your piece will develop its own patina that's completely unique to you.
